Don't just do mathematical simulation for specific communication subject. Then can not tell where is the simulation model input from and where  is simulation output going to. Besides, for communication graduate in EE background, to be familiar with layer 1/layer 2 architecture in communication system is necessary. I interview several students in the past six months, no one can clearly tell me his thesis can apply to which part of a typical communication system.
