珍妮：湖人是爸的寶，我不賣

Los Angeles is one of the premier sports cities in America, and the town's best
teams have always seen success. The Rams just won the Super Bowl and the Dodgers
 have won the World Series as recently as 2020, but none of those franchises hav
e enjoyed the historical success that the Lakers have in the NBA.



The team can claim 17 titles throughout its history and while not all of them ca
me when the team was in Los Angeles, they have won 11 titles since Dr. Jerry Bus
s became the owner in 1979. Their latest title in 2020 was won under the steward
ship of his daughter and current owner Jeanie Buss, who is also the President of
 the Lakers.



Speaking in a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times after a disappointing
season for the Lakers, Jeanie addressed the fact that the team needs to perform
better considering how high their payroll is. In the same interview, she also ad
dressed her ownership of the team, explaining that she has no plans to sell the
Lakers.



“In terms of selling the team, I’m not going anywhere. This is exactly what my
 dad asked me to do,” she said, adding, “The team is not for sale.”

珍妮：說到賣湖人，我不可能賣掉湖人隊。這是我爸對我的要求。湖人不賣。

“This was something that was important to him, that he wanted me to keep the La
kers in the family,” she said. “I like to say, my dad had his children, but th
e Lakers were his baby, and he put me in charge of the baby, and I will make sur
e that the baby thrives.”

珍妮：這對我爸來說很重要，他想讓我把湖人留在我們家。我想說的是，我的父親有很多孩
子，但湖人隊也是他的寶貝。他讓我負責這個寶貝，我會確保這個寶貝茁壯成長的。

The Lakers are one of the most valuable sports franchises in the world, having b
een valued at a whopping $4.6 billion in 2022, and even without the emotional co
nnection for Jeanie, a franchise this lucrative being sold is unlikely. Lakers f
ans will be hoping to see some changes being made quickly though, success is dem
anded from the team thanks to the stellar legacy that Dr. Jerry Buss' reign left
 behind.
