The NBA playoffs are as star-studded this year as they've been in recent
memory. LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Paul Pierce and the list of future Hall of
Fame players goes on. Who is going to lead the NBA when those greats have
slowed down or retired?

This slideshow is going to focus on 15 young role players from this year's
playoff teams who will be stars in five years. Anyone on the roster for the
16 playoff teams is eligible for this list. Stats listed are per-game
averages for the 2011-12 regular season.

percentages from his regular-season averages.

player for the Thunder, he plays a pivotal role. Harden will be a cornerstone
for an organization someday.

He's fearless going to the basket and has a knack for finishing at the basket
regardless of how big his defender is. He sports a ridiculous 125 offensive
rating for the year and won the 2011-12 NBA Sixth Man of the Year award.

Kenneth Faried started most of the games he appeared in but only averaged
22.5 minutes per game. His role was to bring energy and athleticism to a
Denver Nuggets team that is already very talented.

Faried secured the nickname "The Manimal" because of his remarkable athletic
ability and non-stop motor on the court. He averaged a double-double in the
playoffs and is only going to get better with some fundamental work.

Iman Shumpert had a bit of an uneven first year with the Knicks. He appeared
in 59 games but started just 35 of those. He's got a great defensive instinct
and put together some excellent games down the stretch to help the Knicks get
into the playoffs.

Shumpert tore his ACL in the playoffs, but at his age, there's no reason to
believe he won't be back as the same player. He'll need to improve his
offense, but it's never easy to put up good offensive numbers playing next to
volume shooters.

Rodrigue Beaubois had a couple of major holes in his game going into this
year, including being remarkably foul-prone for a guard. He averaged 5.5
fouls per 36 minutes but was able to cut that to just 3.1 this year.

His finishing and mid-range game needs some real work, but he's shown the
ability to make free-throws with a 84.1 percent average.

Some more mentoring from Jason Kidd would go a long way for Beaubois, and if
the rumors about Deron Williams prove to be false, he could be the point
guard of the future in Dallas.

Norris Cole started the season like a man possessed and appeared as if he
could be the point guard for the Miami Heat throughout the season. Instead,
his poor shooting and decision-making earned him a spot on the bench.

Cole is very raw but has the athletic ability to be an excellent point guard
at some point. He would benefit from a longer leash as he showed promise when
he was allowed to flow freely, but when coach Erik Spolestra reigned him in,
he struggled.

Paul George started every game for the Indiana Pacers, so it's a small
stretch to call him a role player, but he's definitely not a star just yet.
He's in a tremendous situation to break out and become a star on a team that
so badly needs one.

George showed the kind of improvement from his rookie year that any NBA coach
would drool over. He improved his three-point shooting, free-throw shooting,
rebounding, passing and defense. In addition, he showed his durability as he
didn't miss a single start.

O.J. Mayo is a strange case. He began his career as a starter and played 82
games in both of his first two seasons. Then, he was moved to the bench, and
the team experienced a lot of growth together and made the playoffs.

There are a lot of factors that go into that, but Mayo is a guy that needs a
lot of shots, and getting them off the bench proves to be difficult at times.

Mayo has shown that he's unafraid to take any shot at any time, but his
production has totally tanked in the playoffs. He's in need of a change
somehow, and as a free agent, he could elect to take his services elsewhere
and possibly blossom into a star.

Eric Bledsoe is a burner who broke out in the playoffs and showed what he's
capable of. He averaged 7.9 points with 2.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists in this
year's playoffs while shooting an excellent 58.7 percent from the field and
42.9 percent from three.

Bledsoe has one of the best in Chris Paul to learn from, and hopefully he
kept his ears and eyes wide open this year.

He's buried on the roster behind Paul, Mo Williams, Randy Foye and Chauncey
Billups, which means there isn't a lot of playing time to go around right
now. His time will come.

If there was an alternative to starting a career surrounded by the San
Antonio Spurs' supporting cast, it would be with the Boston Celtics and the
Big Three.

Avery Bradley put up some excellent shooting numbers this year but has really
fallen off during the playoffs. His shooting percentages are down 10 percent
or more in each category.

The problem with Bradley at this stage of his career is that he's got a point
guard's body but plays more like a shooting guard. Having a guy like Rajon
Rondo on the court provides a lot of open looks, but Bradley is going to need
to branch out to become a star, and he won't be able to do it behind Rondo.

A quick glance at Lavoy Allen's season stats doesn't conjure up comparisons
to Moses Malone, but a deeper look at his numbers tells a better story. He
averages 9.7 points and 9.9 rebounds per 36 minutes, which is very good for a
rookie.

Allen showed that he can play defense and has even chipped in on the
offensive end in the playoffs. He's shooting 57.1 percent from the field
during this year's playoffs and has frustrated Kevin Garnett and the Boston
Celtics for considerable stretches.

Derrick Favors is a bit buried in Utah behind Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap,
but that hasn't stopped him from pounding the glass and doing the dirty work
when given the chance. He showed more maturity than he did in New Jersey and
will find a starting position if he continues to improve.

He averaged 14.9 points and 11.1 rebounds to go along with a steal and 1.7
blocks per 36 minutes last year and continued that pace in the playoffs.

who aren't much smaller than he is, and he's struggling. A huge positive for
Turner is that even though his offense is slumping, he's put a lot of work
into his rebounding and defense.

This year's playoffs have brought the same kind of offensive struggles for
Turner, but he's found a way to average 11.5 points and 7.4 rebounds. He's
got a lot of value, and if he can get his jump shot fixed up a bit, he'll be
a superstar in a few years.

Jeremy Lin came out of nowhere to a lot of folks, and playing in front of the
New York crowd rocketed him into the spotlight. Lin is a great story and is
going to get a lot of money to play point guard for someone next year. He
showed considerable skill getting to the basket and played crunch time like a
star.

He isn't without flaws, as he turned the ball over way too much and just
wasn't the same player when Carmelo Anthony and the rest of the Knicks got
healthy. It's really unfortunate that he got hurt because I would love to see
what he does when that spotlight shines brightest.

Javale McGee might be the poster child for potential. If he is focused, he is
a dominant force on the glass and around the rim defensively. He's long,
athletic and just brash enough to take everybody on. That's also his biggest
weakness.

McGee seems to have mental lapses during games and goes into tunnel vision
when he's looking for his offense. He'll never be confused with having Andrew
Bynum's offensive promise, but he plays as if he does. If a coach could
harness McGee and get him equally angry, motivated and focused, he could be a
force.
